| Membership |
| Do I have to be a member? |
 |
| If stated on your Deeds, or your property has been granted an ‘Accessway Deed’ or ‘Deed of Easement’, membership is compulsory. |
| What does membership involve? |
| Members have the right to vote at General Meetings and stand for Council. Members are required to pay an annual subscription per
household, (£8.75 per month in 2008) to finance the maintenance of the Estate and the costs to run the Limited Company established to protect the rights and
interests of ESL Members. |
| What if I am not a member? |
The majority of residents are members and it is unfair that a minority should enjoy the benefits of a well maintained Estate
funded by their neighbours. Solicitors acting on behalf of potential purchasers now ask that membership is fully paid up to date before any sale can proceed.
This is largely due to the fact that all householders are required by law to pay for road, and in some cases drain and sewer, maintenance. Paid-up members of
ESL are ‘insured’ against that cost but those who are not members of the Company are invoiced, based on their measured frontage, for any work carried out,
including an administration charge. The Company has never lost a case against those who refuse to pay their dues. |
| In Summary |
| An organisation of over three hundred freeholders with a sensible track record and a great deal of combined experience can
represent your interests far more effectively than you can as an individual. So, if you are not currently a member of Elmer Sands Limited, please contact
the Secretary. |
