About Us
This Website aims to provide useful and relevant information for new residents and other interested parties and to explain in simple terms, how the Estate is managed for the benefit of its residents.
Elmer Sands Limited (ESL) exists to ensure that the Estate is well maintained and to represent the common interests of its Members.
The Company can have up to fifteen Directors (The Council), who are all unpaid volunteers, elected by the members at AGM’s and bound to retire by rotation, to ensure wide representation. The present Council consists of a cross-section of resident members who work together to ensure that Elmer Sands remains a secure and well-managed Estate for all its residents to enjoy.
ESL is primarily responsible for the maintenance of the roadways, surface water drainage system and common areas that serve some 380 dwellings on the Elmer Sands Estate.
A Maintenance Company is contracted to carry out seasonal grass cutting of all communal areas and other general maintenance jobs (eg fencing, painting, clearing gullies, weeding, tree surgery etc). In order to keep the maintenance subscription fees to a minimum, residents are asked to keep the grass verges adjoining their own properties neat and tidy.
A Security Company is contracted to patrol the Estate seven days per week to discourage vandalism and report any suspicious activities.
A Wheel Clamping patrol and phone-response system has been introduced near the beach access area to avoid use as a general car park and to keep the emergency access points clear.
Improvement Projects are occasionally undertaken, such as the Infants Play Ground, the Recreation Area, seating on the Sundeck and the Shingle Garden and Boules Terrain at the Weather Shelter (Kiosk). These areas have been created by using membership funds and the goodwill of volunteers and will continue to be enjoyed by residents and their friends and families for many years to come.
Residents are very much encouraged to join in and volunteer themselves to assist with a variety of simple maintenance jobs and community projects. Please contact the Secretary if you would like to help (no special skills required).
The Elmer Sands Estate is very lucky to have a boat berth and launching facility, which is managed by an independent club, The Elmer Sands Boating and Angling Club, whose volunteers also put on seasonal social events to raise Club funds and promote community spirit within the Estate.
The Estate is not only unique, but is very well managed and maintained which means that the value of its properties remains high and Elmer Sands continues to be a very desirable place to live.
